A Wicked Reputation Can Be Detrimental to Your Business
In this post you will discover why if you are a restaurant or hair and beauty salon owner it is important to keep on top of your business reputation. This is particularly important online. You will also learn how to improve your reputation if it is less than it could be.
It came to me how important it is to develop and maintain your reputation after seeing Wicked at the Apollo Theatre in Victoria recently. It was a brilliant production and I left the theatre feeling happy. In case you have not seen it, I won’t spoil it for you.
News of bad customer service travels twice as fast as good customer service.
How many times have you seen a poor review written about a restaurant detailing the poor customer service or the burnt food?
Imagine a potential customer who wants a manicure or a pedicure? They have just moved into the area and are checking out the local salons online. They read through the reviews and see some worrying reviews about a local salon and decide to choose another that has a lot of glowing reviews even though it is a little further away.

Begin by searching for yourself online by name, company name and brand and anything else that is relevant. Be very thorough as you will be using this information later. Where are you showing up online? What are they saying about you? Record all this information including URLs on an excel spreadsheet.
What do you notice? Have you found anything negative about your business? Mark the URLs as high priority to either get deleted if possible or to be pushed down in the search results. Anything positive, particularly glowing praise? Record the URLs and mark these to be promoted everywhere!
Where do you show up the most? These are the places you want to post more content as you have the most influence there. Is your target market there? If not, you will need to do some research to find them and then post your content where they are.
Decide what content you will publish that will promote the reputation you want to build. When creating your strategy decide on the content and topics and record on a content calendar using an excel spreadsheet.
Once you have decided on the content and topics publish where your target market hangs out to get the most exposure possible.
Now the real work starts! Publish your best content everywhere to be both seen and heard.
Focus on measuring, monitoring and modifying your content. Keep a track of your reputation and make any necessary changes to your content strategy.
